Original Thought of the Day

Tonight’s “Original Thought of the Day” is to my now grown children and their significant others. John and Airin, Jessey and Nate, I know that all of you have been speaking of marriage whether it be curiosity or serious intention, so I wanted to let you know my feelings on planning a wedding. It seems to me that the only people’s opinions that matter are the bride and groom. It is your day to celebrate your commitments to each other. Don’t let anyone take that away from you while they try to impose their own ideas and desires upon your plans. Make it the day you want. Because, after all there is no wedding, no marriage, no relationship without the two of you. Just know that you may have to help cover costs with anything big and elaborate, but I will do what I can with what I have to be there for you. I love you all and feel blessed to have all of you in my life. ~ Mom (Elizabeth Leer)

Original Thought of the Day

In order to think outside the box, one must first forget all that they know and have been told about themselves and the universe. ~ Elizabeth Leer

Original Thought of the Day

As humans we are multi-facetted and as such it should be our goal in life to have our positive attributes outshine our negative characteristics everyday. ~ Elizabeth Leer

Original Thought of the Day

If it seems to you like negative experiences and feelings linger longer and affect you more deeply, it could be because you have forgotten that negative energy weighs much more than positive energy. Remember the last time you were happy and how you felt as light as a feather and now compare it to a time of great sorrow. Negative energy is substantially heavier than positive energy and in turn takes more time, strength, and energy to overcome; while positive energy is weightless and can easily drift away if not nurtured. ~ Elizabeth Leer

Hallow Hill Screams Part 3

The next morning Evelyn was startled out of a deep sleep by the sound of cursing, clanging, and a loud crash that sounded like someone falling. She jumped from her bed and anxiously ran to see who had broken in. When she reached the front entry she stopped dead in her tracks as she began to laugh embarrassedly.

Her husband had come home early in order to surprise her, and had unwittingly fallen into her trap like a fly into a spider’s web. He looked up at her in complete confusion asking, “What the hell is all of this, and why am I tangled in it like a trapped animal?”

Evelyn hurried over to help detangle her sweetie while she explained her evening to him. The two laughed together at the ridiculousness of the situation before hugging hello. Bill could see how distraught his wife was, and said he would go take a look, but was sure the sheriff had been correct. Evelyn smiled at his caring manner, and impatiently awaited his return. She was both terrified and eager to discover what had made the paralyzing screams. What if he found the remnants of a half-eaten child? That is an image she would never be able to remove from her mind. Hallow Hill Screams 5 9.21.2015

When Bill returned he had a somber look upon his face. Evelyn was sure it was bad. Then he spoke, “I’m sorry my dear….” Evelyn’s face turned white with anticipation to what might come next. “I found the source of your tormentor. It was our baby.” Evelyn looked at Bill with a look of absolute confusion, they had no babies. Seeing her confusion Bill elaborated, “Our baby deer that we have been feeding. She must have gotten separated from her mother during the night and been calling for her when the coyotes attacked her.”

Evelyn began to cry uncontrollably with relief, and sadness. “I had no idea they could sound so much like a little child.” Bill took her in his arms and comforted her, and then they both went out onto the porch. As they stood there looking out onto their property, they could see the mother deer grieving in the distance over the loss of her baby. Evelyn smiled a compassionate I’m sorry to her and as if to say thank you for trying the mother deer bowed her head and wandered silently back into the woods.

After they had returned into the house and settled in for breakfast, Bill couldn’t resist the urge to tease his wife. “So…Dear… You didn’t actually think the sounds were the “Hallow Hills Squaw” did you?”

Evelyn blushed and said, “Of course not,” then under her breath mumbled, not the whole night at least.
